Bridging the Paper and Digital Gap (Seminar)

Corporations have struggled with managing paper-based business documents for decades. Single dimensional (1D) pattern-based barcodes, Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and manual data-entry have been the common solution for extracting data from business documents. These solutions have inherent and costly limitations. Manual data-entry and OCR are also plagued with an avoidable percentage of ongoing error. These limitations unquestionably hamper business processing metrics; adversely impacting turn around times and more importantly quality of service.

The PDF417, a two-dimensional (2D) barcode, allows business users to bridge the “digital divide” between paper-based documents and electronic forms. This seminar introduces the audience to the undeniable power of the PDF417; utilizing pertinent industry hurdles as the context of the demonstrated business solutions. Adobe’s enterprise strength solution is also highlighted since this platform incorporates this 2D barcode technology out of the box.

Cardinal’s clients have used the knowledge that they have gained from this seminar to address the following issues:

  • Increase the accuracy of data capture
  • Increase the throughput of indexing (cataloging) forms
  • Decrease overall operating and maintenance costs using manual or OCR technologies
  • Automated identification and routing of work items within a business process management tool without the need for manual identification
