Java Server Faces

This three-day course is designed to give students a strong understanding of JSF and how to integrate it in their own environments.  The course combines presentation, discussion, and detailed hands-on labs.   Students will complete the lab exercises using Eclipse, Tomcat, and MyFaces, developing useful knowledge of how to build and extend JSF applications. 

Who should attend?
This course is designed for motivated application developers who are experienced using the Java programming language, servlets, and JDBC, and are interested in adding Java Server Faces to their skill set.

After completing the course, learners will be able to:

  • Be knowledgeable about JSF and it’s application
  • Understand the architecture of JSF applications
  • Understand request processing phases
  • Understand expression language
  • Utilize JSPs, backing beans, and configuration
  • Understand the Component Model

  • Use nationalization, validation, and conversion
  • Understand page navigation
  • Be familiar with the differences between JSF and Struts
  • Know the common core components of JSF
  • Extend and enhance applications
  • Build editable data tables

Prerequisites
Cardinal Solution’s Java 201 course or equivalent experience

Materials Provided
“Core JSF”, by Sun Microsystems, course manual, lab workbook, course CD including Eclipse, the sysdeo Eclipse Tomcat plugin, and Tomcat as well as lab solutions
